Yes, we won!

The Woodhouse Opticians team receive their Sustainable Practice Award

We’re delighted to have received a national award for our efforts on sustainability.

Last week we got all dressed up for the 2022 Optician Awards at Park Lane Hilton in London – and came away with the Sustainable Practice Award.

Stephen, Sukie, Abigail and Paul were praised for their ‘great innovations’ in striving to reduce the business’ carbon footprint.

The judges said: “The winner provided great detail on the importance of sustainability and its relevance to the future of the practice. It also outlined practical steps it had taken to avoid waste and save energy.”

The award recognises the strides the business has made in recent years to become more environmentally aware. This ranges from working with eco conscious suppliers, to extensive recycling and developing its own environmental policy.

Opticians Awards Winner 2022All staff also studied for and achieved a ‘Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Sustainability’.

Sukie said: “Sustainability and doing what we can to protect the environment is fundamental to our business. We’ve developed so much in recent years and all the team have embraced that.

“We’re delighted this award recognises that. And also how we are offering our patients and customers a quality service and many innovative and sustainably sourced products.”

The business has also been shortlisted for Sustainable Practice of the Year at the 2022 SightCare Awards, run by the UK’s largest association of independent opticians and optometrists.
