From waste, to stylish frames – our new supplier

Every business has its story, but few are as inspiring as that of the founders of Waterhaul, our latest frame supplier.

The company was set up by a pair of frustrated marine conservationists. They found their dives spoiled by ghost gear – lost or discarded fishing gear and the most lethal form of plastic to marine life.

But rather than just bemoan their luck they set about doing something about it. They developed a recycling solution to process various forms of end-of-life fishing gear to produce sunglasses.

Since that day, Waterhaul has become a sustainable business hit. They utilise the strongest form of plastic in our oceans to produce exceptionally sustainable, recycled eyewear. Waterhaul frames can last you a lifetime, because they are made from nets that would last decades in the ocean.

Display of Waterhaul frames in our practiceWe’ve been growing our range of environmentally conscious suppliers for the last few years so the Waterhaul journey had caught our eye. Then at this year’s 100% Optical trade show in London our paths crossed and we sealed a deal to be their latest stockist.

If you come into our Highfield Road practice you can see – and try – some of their frames that are on display alongside Sukie’s eye-catching artwork made from the same ghost gear and waste plastics. So that’s two companies putting this discarded waste to good use!

Waterhaul frames are stylish, extremely durable, and a great price. Plus, anyone owning a pair can be certain they are playing a part in removing harmful waste from the seas and putting it to good use.

Recover – recycle – repurpose.
